Canada- A nature lover’s dream come true:
Canada encompasses 6 different time zones, it has 10 provinces and 3 territories and is home to 42 national parks, 167 national historic sites and 4 marine conservation areas. There are 200 species of mammals in Canada and 630 bird species. Canada is the 2nd largest country in the world after Russia but only 0.05% of the world’s population lives in Canada with a population of 36 million.
Forests cover more than half of the country, which means 1/10th of the world’s forests are in Canada. Canada has more lakes than any all the other lakes in the world combined! The province of Ontario, Canada alone has more than 250,000 lakes and they contain 1/5 of the world’s fresh water! Canada has 202,080 of the world’s total 356,000 kilometres of oceanfront property. It has the longest coastline of any country at 243,977 Kilometres or 151,600 miles. That means that if you were to walk around the country even without sleeping, eating, or resting it would take you more than 4 and a half years to complete your journey!!
So how do you immigrate to this nature lover’s paradise?
The Canadian government through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (|RCC) admits 300,000 immigrants to Canada annually, mainly under the Family Class and the Economic Class. IRCC manages skilled worker, economic class immigration programs using the Express Entry system. For this article we will discuss how to apply under the Economic Class.
The Economic Class comprises of professionals and skilled workers under the federal skilled worker program,
- Federal Skilled Trades
- Canadian Experience Class
- Provincial Nominee Class
- Quebec Skilled Worker Class
Create your Express Entry profile and include your:
- Skills
- Education
- Language ability
- Work Experience
- Other Details
Once you start an Express Entry profile you have 60 days to complete it. The information you provide will let the government see if you are eligible for an immigration program that is managed by Express Entry. You will be welcomed into their pool of candidates if you do get accepted.
Once you complete your entry into the Express Entry pool you will be ranked using a points-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System. It uses the information above that you provide in your profile to give you a score. You can also get points for having a Canadian degree, diploma, or certificates, a valid job offer, or a nomination from a province or territory. The government will then send invitations to the highest ranked scores in the pool. If you do get invited, you have 90 days to apply for permanent residence. The goal is to process all completed applications within 6 months or less. You can stay in the pool for up to 12 months as long as you meet the criteria for one of the federal programs. It is important to keep your profile as up to date as possible.
Other ways that you can immigrate to Canada would be:
- As a self-employed person in cultural or athletic activities, or as a farmer
- As a skilled worker in the province of Quebec
- Be nominated by a Canadian territory or province or by working as a live-in caregiver.
